TikTok - AR filters
AR Experience - 3D - Motion - AR Filter - Social Media
With the rise of social media, filters are continuously growing in popularity in the advertising sector. It is one of the strongest tools for direct consumer interaction, making it perfect for creating experiences.
After talking with other creators, I created some fun AR filters for music releases using 3D softwares to model visuals from MV and Tiktok’s Effect House create it. This made for a fun light hearted experience for music fans, which turned out very popular with the younger demographic. Later on I discovered it can help communities of people, like the cosplay community with AR digital contact lenses for specific characters as not everyone could use physical contact lenses.
Role: AR Creator (Effect House)
Content Creator, Social Media Research, 3D Model
Process:
After doing some research into the elements for the effect, I then look into the technical knowledge needed for implementing in the native apps (Tiktok / Instagram).
Using Adobe to design 2D graphics and filter LUTs, and Blender to 3D model, I go through various iterations testing and adjusting designs, models, UV and LUTs.
Upon finishing the final product, I create custom thumbnails that reflect the vibe and effect use.
New Jeans - Hype Boy filter
Inspired by the 3D message bubbles and other visual elements in NewJeans’ Hype Boy music video, I created an AR filter for TikTok. Using Blender to create custom 3D assets and Effect House to create this simple interactive filter. Though this was a first time filter, it proved very popular with the fans of New Jeans, a fun easy-to-use filter to dance or lip-sync to. Fans love to be in the world of the New Jeans, so this was a fun successful project.
Junpachi Ego - Ego Eyes filter
’Blue Lock’, a globally popular football / soccer and action packed anime amongst the younger male demographic. The characters have these animated eyes of desperation, drive and hunger as they try to become number one.
I recreated this for TikTok using hand drawn animation, which worked very efficiently with its size and style. With over 63 Million views, this went viral with the fans, further increasing the popularity and social media buzz.
Makima Eyes filter
With the popularity of “Chainsaw Man”, there was one character who had everyone talking about them. With the growing number of fans, I wanted to create the eyes that would glow and make it easy for cosplayers at home, as the rest of the outfits was simple. This gained over 13 Million views and helped cosplayers, increasing the popularity of the anime further.
Bubble Tea filter
Incorporating food into AR for a fun filter for all boba lovers. I created the 3D model using Nomad Sculpt and Blender to add finishing touches. Added interactive touch to change boba drink types and the head tracking to create this simple interactive filter.
Twice - Talk That Talk MV filter
Leaning into a more immersive experience, this filter focuses on using body segmentation aspect to immerse user to the Twice universe. Inspired by their Y2K cyber mv video, I created this immersive filter to replicate the aesthetics for users so they can take part in music video.
